The Best Exercise to Help Skinny People Gain Weight

If there was only one exercise I could do to gain weight, my top choice would be Barbell Squats. There are so many different exercises, it can be confusing to figure out which ones you should do. Squats have been proven as one of the best exercises you can do. If you're too skinny, and need to gain weight, do not skip Squats on leg day. This is also a an incredible exercise if you're trying to get a bigger butt. Here are some benefits of doing Squats:

1. Helps You Gain the Most Muscle

Think about how much muscle mass people have on their legs, compared to the rest of their body. Your legs are the biggest muscles you have. Squats help you build your quads, glutes, hamstrings, and calves. This takes up the entire lower half of your body. You can gain some serious weight, by growing those twigs into tree trunks.

2. How do Squats Make Your Butt Bigger

A popular question I get from women is "How do I make my butt bigger." I always recommend Squats to help your butt get bigger. Since this exercise also targets the glutes, your butt will get plenty of work from Squats. A narrow stance won't target the glutes as much. So try going slightly wider than shoulder width for your feet, and your toes slightly pointing outward. Since you can go heavier with Barbell Squats, this will lead to a rounder, fuller butt.

3. Improves Core Strength

In order to Squat, you have to balance heavy weight on top of your body. The muscles that stabilizes your body is your core. This includes your lower, inner and mid back. Your obliques and abs also get involved. Having a strong core translates into lifting heavier weights in other exercises as well. A solid core can help prevent back injuries, posture, coordination, and balance.

4. Increase Muscle Building Hormones

Squats have been shown to help your body release more testosterone, and growth hormone than any other exercise. These hormones are vital in helping your body gain muscle, and not just in your legs. But in your entire body. Having more testosterone can also help with burning fat, stronger bone density, put you in a better mood, and increase your libido.

5. Functional in Everyday Life

We do Squats everyday. It helps strengthen our muscles so that everything else is easier. It can be tremendous help when you're:

  • Carrying heavy things.

  • Going up and down stairs.

  • Playing with your kids.

  • Keeping your body strong as you age.

6. Boost Blood Flow

Squats increase your blood circulation throughout your entire body. When that happens you're getting more nutrients and oxygen to your muscles, organs, and joints. This can lead to your body being more efficient, and higher energy. This can translate to better workouts, and more muscle.
